Tallaght stabbing: Young man dies after horror stabbing following row in Dublin estate

A young man has died following a horrific stabbing during a row in a Tallaght estate.

The young man, 25, was stabbed in the neck a number of times during a row with another youth near his home in Mac Uilliam Road, Tallaght at around 7.15pm on Tuesday.

It is understood both men, aged in their 20s, got into a verbal row that then turned violent when a knife was produced.

Locals tonight described the incident as shocking, with several people witnessing the row.

"They were fighting in the street and one of them got stabbed near his neck. An older man intervened and we saw him get cut in the eye," one woman said.

"It was horrible. Everyone here knows the young man. May God rest his soul," she said.

"He's a nice young man. All of his friends are very upset right now. It's terrible that knives have to be used," another said.

The victim was rushed to Tallaght University Hospital where his condition was described as being serious.

However, shortly the young man has since been sadly declared dead

In a statement, gardai said they were alerted to the incident and the man was seriously injured and removed to the Tallaght University Hospital where he passed away later this evening.

A second man, 40s, was also injured and removed to Tallaght University Hospital and is being treated for his non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí are appealing to any persons who may have witnessed the incident or were in the area between 6.30pm and 7.15pm or any passing taxis with dash cam footage to contact Tallaght Garda Station on 01 666 6000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
