Young man dies after falling ill at sports field in Co Tipperary as garda investigation launched

Gardai are investigating the death of a young man who fell ill at a sports field in Tipperary on Thursday night.

The man, aged in his 30s, fell ill at a GAA pitch in Clonmel shortly after 9pm with emergency services rushing to the scene.

The man was brought to local South Tipperary General Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A post-mortem will determine the course of the garda investigation however no foul play is suspected.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí responded to a call of a sudden death in the Western Road area of Clonmel, Co. Tipperary in the late hours of Thursday, 5 November 2020.

"A male in his early thirties was conveyed to South Tipperary General Hospital where his death was pronounced."
