Young man dies after crash which closed road for hours

A 22-year-old man has died after a crash on a road in Neath Port Talbot.

The incident occurred on the B4287 at Efail Fach, Pontrhydyfen at approximately 7.30pm on Saturday, October 30. It involved two vehicles, a green Mazda MX-5 and a red Ford Fiesta, which were travelling in opposite directions.

The 22 year-old male passenger of the green Mazda sustained fatal injuries. The driver of that car, a 27 year-old man, was seriously injured. The driver of the Fiesta was also injured and taken to hospital. Two other people escaped injury. The road was closed for a number of hours for investigations to be carried out at the scene.

The serious collision investigation unit at South Wales Police are appealing for anybody who with information, who may have been travelling along that route and noticed the manner of driving of either vehicle moments before the collision, or who may have dashcam footage, to make contact by any of the following means giving the reference 380974.:
