Young man detained under Mental Health Act after police and paramedics rush to Salford tower block

A young man was detained under the Mental Health Act after police rushed to a Salford tower block.

At least seven police vehicles and an ambulance were sent to New Bridge Street, Greengate, on Thursday morning (September 10).

Greater Manchester Police have now said emergency services attended following reports of concern for a man's welfare.

The force said in a statement: "At around 10.30am this morning, police were called to New Bridge Street, Salford to a report of concern for the welfare of a man.

"Emergency services attended and a man, aged 27, was detained under the Mental Capacity Act and taken to hospital.

"No arrests were made."

No other details have been revealed by police.
