Young man 'deliberately' mowed down by car in Salford dies in hospital six days after 'targeted attack' - murder investigation launched

A young man has died nearly a week after he was 'deliberately' hit by a car as he rode his motorbike in Salford.

The 20-year-old suffered serious injuries when he was hit by the car, which dragged his body into a petrol station in Little Hulton on Saturday May 11.

Today (Friday) Greater Manchester Police confirmed he died of his injuries as they identified the man as Luke Fleming.

A murder investigation has been launched.

Following the incident, the M.E.N. reported how the car is believed to have been 'deliberately' driven at a motorbiker in a targeted attack.

Mr Fleming suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Salford Royal Hospital.

CCTV footage showed another man on the bike with Mr Fleming get up and run away.

The 23-year-old was found later by police. He suffered only minor injuries.

Mr Fleming, was dragged under the vehicle, a blue Fiat Sedici, with the bike a short distance into a nearby petrol station before he was released.

The vehicle is then seen to smash into a petrol pump.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene.

Detectives have appealed to the public for information.

Chief Inspector Stuart Wilkinson from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “My thoughts are with Luke’s family at this devastating time, I would like to reassure them that we are doing all that we can to find them the answers they deserve.

“Our investigation has now become a murder enquiry and we are currently continuing to trawl CCTV to piece together the moments leading up to the collision.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has any information which could help us with our enquiries.”
