A young man has been praised online after running through heavy traffic in Bangkok to clear the way for an emergency vehicle rushing a patient to hospital.
It happened on Tuesday as a rescue van was transporting a patient in critical condition in the On Nut area. Video posted on social media by the rescue crew showed the man running ahead of the vehicle, signalling to motorists to make way so that it could pass more quickly.
At one point, the driver of the rescue van rolled down the window to thank the runner for his efforts.
The video quickly gained traction online, with many netizens praising the man’s selfless act. Some users shared personal stories of how loved ones had died after not reaching hospital in time.
Social media users hailed the runner as a “true hero”, noting that his actions may have helped save a life.
