A man has been arrested following stabbing incident in Galway city on Thursday night.
The incident occurred in the Eyre Square are at around 10.20pm.
A man, aged in his 20s, received a number of apparent stab wounds and was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Galway for treatment.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Meanwhile another man, aged in his 40s, nearby and he was taken to Galway Garda station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A knife has been recovered and is subject to analysis.
Gardai say investigations are ongoing.
