A young man was brutally assaulted in a late-night attack in Co Mayo on Friday.
The incident happened on Bridge Street in Ballyhaunis at around 10.45pm last night.
A man in his 20s was rushed to Mayo University Hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries.
Nobody has yet been arrested and officers are continuing to investigate.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred on Bridge Street, Ballyhaunis at approximately 10:45pm last night, Friday 4th September.
"A male in his 20s was taken to Mayo University Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
"No arrests have been made, investigations ongoing."
