Young man, 22, dies in hospital after horror road crash in Co Louth

The motorcyclist critically injured in a crash in Co Louth on Saturday has died in hospital.

The 22-year-old was rushed to hospital after the collision on the N2 in Edmonstown where his condition was described as critical.

Gardai confirmed this morning that the young man has passed away.

A garda spokesperson said: "The male motorcyclist, 22 years, who was in a critical condition from injuries sustained in a serious road traffic collision on the N2, Edmonstown, County Louth, on Saturday, 11th September, 2021, has since passed away.

"Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward. Any road users who were travelling on the N2 in the townland of Edmonstown, Louth on Saturday evening 11th September between 8pm and 8:30pm and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make it available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ardee Garda Station on 041 6853222, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
