Young man, 20s, rushed to hospital following serious assault on Tea Lane in Celbridge, Kildare

Gardai sealed off a Kildare road overnight on Sunday after a young man suffered serious injuries following a late night assault.

The man in his 20s was brutally attacked on Tea Lane in Celbridge at around 9pm on Saturday night.

He was rushed to Beaumont Hospital a short time later with the road reopening early on Sunday morning, Dublin Live reports.

A spokesman for Gardaí said: "We are investigating an assault that took place on Tea Lane, Celbridge on Saturday night at approximately 9pm.

"A male in his 20s suffered serious injuries and has been removed to Beaumont Hospital."

He added: "No arrests have being made and investigations are ongoing."
