A 22-year-old Irishman has died after his kayak "capsized" in Thailand.

It is reported that the kayak "capsized" and that Odhrán said he would "swim to shore" but wasn't seen again, Belfast Live reports.

His sister Michaela said: "My brother Odhran O'Neill is missing in Khao Sok National Park. He was last seen kayaking in the lake when his kayak tipped over. He is alone with no phone or wallet."

This morning, GAA club Clann Eireann confirmed that Odhrán's body had been found.

They said: "Unfortunately, it is not the outcome we had all hoped and prayed for. Odhrán’s body has been found this morning.

"Thank you to everyone who assisted the search efforts by sharing.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the O’Neill, O’Dowd and McVeigh families at this very difficult time.

"Go raibh suaimhneas síoraí ar a anam dílis."

Hundreds of people have commented on the social media post sharing their sympathies with his family.
