Young Glasgow Green Day fan rocks out with band on stage at Bellahouston Park gig

A Glaswegian Green Day fan had the Time of Their Life when they were invited up on stage to play alongside the American rock band at Bellahouston Park.

The unknown fan was called onto stage by lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong to play the guitar in the smash hit song Basket Case - but this young rocker had come prepared. As soon as they took to the stage, it was seamless and looked like the youngster had been playing with the band all their life.

The audience were taken aback by the talent of the young fan, as they sang and cheered along. Right at the end of the performance, Billie Joe screamed 'Glasgowww!' into the microphone, causing a wave of applause and cheer to ring around the place for the young performer.

Twitter user @JamFitzpatrick posted the video onto their page with the caption: "Wee guy they brought out the crowd at Green Day called Erin, pure rocked out big time, go on sen." The young fan, called Erin, was all smiles as they jammed along with the crowd.

Another concert-goer posted a thread of tweets that encompassed the event on Wednesday night. The Twitter user said: "The #hellamegatour goes down as one of the best gigs of my life. Thank you @GreenDay @falloutboy and @Weezer. Haste ye back! But we need to talk about Erin.

"So, Billie Joe told the crowd he wanted a guitarist to come on stage. He picked this kid called Erin, handed him a guitar and they jammed. The kid also said he could play Basket Case (one of their early massive hits, for the uninitiated) so Billie Joe said "play it now".

"And the kid did, starting off on his own, in front of 40,000? people. And nailed it HARD. Green Day then joined in. Crowd goes wild. Mental. After the song, Billie Joe walks Erin to the front of the stage, tens of thousands of people chanting this kids' name. Life-changing.

"The kid then starts to hand his guitar back but Billie Joe stops him and says: "No, no. You keep it. That's yours now." Beautiful. Erin: I don't know who you are, kid, but I look forward to seeing you play that guitar on that stage with your own band one day."

Imagine playing on stage with your favourite band, and then the lead singer lets you keep the guitar? Erin, if you are out there reading this - rock on, you superstar.

Green Day will continue their Hella Mega tour, alongside Fall Out Boy and Weezer with a performance in France at the Garorock Festival. But, we're sure no tour date will hit the same as Glasgow did, for several reasons.
