Young girl taken to hospital after falling down ditch at Kilmarnock park

A young girl was taken to hospital after falling down a ditch in a Kilmarnock park last night.

Multiple emergency crews raced to the Dean Park shortly before 5.30pm after receiving reports of a youngster in difficulty.

Ayrshire Live told you last night that a rescue mission was launched by police, fire and ambulance crews.

First aid was given to the youngster before she was taken away from the scene in an ambulance.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 5.20pm on Tuesday, February 16 to reports of a young person in difficulty near Dean Castle, Kilmarnock.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene, where firefighters assisted the casualty, who had fallen down a ditch, and administered first aid.

"The young person was handed into the care of paramedics and taken to hospital for precautionary checks."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said last night: "Around 5.30pm on Tuesday, February 16, police were made aware a girl had fallen at Dean Castle.

"The matter was dealt with by the fire service and paramedics. We have no further information."

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Ambulance Service, said: “We received a call at 5.17pm on Tuesday, February 16 to attend an incident at Dean Castle, Kilmarnock.

"A range of resources were sent to the scene and one girl was transported to Crosshouse Hospital.”
