A video showing a young girl burst into tears after receiving a doll with a prosthetic leg just like hers has received 6.5 million views in just three days.
The video of Emma Bennett, from Houston, Texas, shows the girl unable to contain her joy, and has captured the hearts of people across the world, receiving hundreds of comments and more than 80,000 shares.
Posted by her mother, Courtney Bennett, the short video shows Emma opening the present given to her by her little sister.
On seeing the dolls leg, Emma exclaimed: “You’ve got to be kidding me, it has a leg like me!” before hugging the doll close to her and bursting into tears.
A note, delivered with the doll and read by the girls’ mother, explained the doll's journey. It said: “After a few weeks of training, she is ready to go home and lead a life without limitations with you.”
Still crying, Emma hugged her new toy, saying: “Thank you for making a doll like me."
The doll's leg was made by A Step Ahead Prosthetics, which has a branch in New York. Although the company specialises in prosthetic limbs for people, it has made an exception and created several dolls for little girls with prosthetic limbs.
