Young girl left with 'bullet-like' wound on her head after firework was hurled at her in Dublin park

A young girl was left with a bullet-like wound on her forehead after being hit by a firework.

The shocking incident happened at Ringsend Park in Dublin, when the firework was hurled at the youngster.

A garda investigation into the incident is now underway.

A picture obtained by Dublin Live shows the girl's face covered in blood as she pulls back her hair to reveal the huge injury from the explosive device.

Sources said that a rocket firework was hurled at the girl during a large gathering at the park this week.

A Garda spokeswoman confirmed the shocking incident to Dublin Live.

She said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident which occurred in Ringsend, Dublin 4 which occurred on the 9th September at approximately 9:00pm."

She added: "A female youth received facial injuries during an incident involving a firework.

"No further information is available at this time and investigations are ongoing."
