Young girl found 'distressed' after losing her friends

A teenage girl was seen "distressed" walking the streets, after she lost her friends.

After losing her friends in Old Swan, a 14-year-old girl, from Aigburth, was spotted by staff from Hoggins Old Swan looking distressed. Declan, the Bar Manager of the Irish bar on St Oswalds Street and some female staff took the schoolgirl into the venue to wait while they called the police.

Staff said Merseyside Police, who had been searching the area for some time for her, arrived within 15 minutes and returned the schoolgirl back to her home address last night.

Declan said: "I was outside the venue with another member of staff on a break when we spotted her looking lost and in some distress around 10pm outside our venue. She told us she had gotten lost from her friends from the area around 6pm and was not familiar with the area.

"With no mobile phone to use we placed her with some female members of staff while we waited for the police to arrive. We are all very happy to see her safe return home."

Circle & Hen group launched in the Liverpool region in 2019, and have grown their brand across several sites. A family-based business, their motto is ‘more local’. Hoggins is an old fashioned Irish pub, playing a mixture of 80s and Irish music, who recently opened another Hoggins site in the Waterloo on South Road earlier this year.

Area Manager of Circle & Hen Group, Lloyd added: "We are pleased that this young lady has been returned home safe. We, obviously, don’t allow under 18’s in our venues but Declan spotted this young girl in distress and did the right thing. It is nice to hear some good news at this time."
