Young girl attacked by group of teens at shop in north Dublin

A young girl was left terrified after being attacked by a group of teenagers while at a shop.

The girl, understood to be around 12 years old, was taken to Beaumont Hospital with injuries from the attack.

It is believed that the gang of teenage boys targeted her in the attack and kicked her before chasing her toward the SuperValu shop in Finglas, north Dublin.

The shocking attack happened just before 7pm on Monday, with local residents sharing their disgust, Dublin Live reports.

One said: "It was absolutely appalling what was going on in the village tonight, children as young as 11 and 12 running riot in the village and the main centre.

"It's getting to the stage where people can't even go shopping without being abused by these kids, have their parents absolutely no control over them whatsoever."

A Garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of assault that occurred at Drogheda Mall, Finglas at on the 15 March 2021 at 6.50pm where a female youth was assaulted by a number of youths and was taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment.

"No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing."
