Young Giants fan tells Daniel Jones he didn’t deserve to be No. 6 pick

The New York Giants have taken plenty of grief over the past few months for spending the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft on Duke quarterback Daniel Jones.

The criticism is even coming from the team’s younger fans.

At training camp practice this week, a young Giants fan made his opinion on the pick painfully clear, telling Jones himself that he didn’t believe he was worthy of such a high draft slot (via NJ.com’s Matt Lombardo):

It’s a harsh statement, especially coming from such a youthful source, but it’s a sentiment many fans and analysts have agreed with since the pick was made back in April. Despite having Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins still on the board, the Giants opted for Jones, who many believed should have been a late-first round pick rather than a top-10 selection.

Now, Jones will have the difficult task of winning over an unforgiving fan base in the NFL’s largest market, while preparing to take over for a two-time Super Bowl MVP (and likely future Hall of Famer) in Eli Manning.

The former Blue Devil certainly has his work cut out for him, and it appears he’ll have to make believers out of even the youngest Giants supporters.
