A woman has gone viral after bizarrely claiming she "could be Madeleine McCann " due to "evidence", including a tell-tale "speck" in her eye.
Madeleine disappeared from her holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal’s Algarve in 2007, when she was four years old. She has never been found but, in recent years, TikTok users have gone viral for their uncanny resemblance to the youngster.
And this Polish woman has hopped on the bandwagon with her latest unsubstantiated claims. The woman, who posts on her Instagram account @iammadeleinemcann, claims she began to realise she may be missing Maddie "a few months ago", reports the Daily Star. She said: "It was something that I heard from my grandma."

The young woman says she is 21 but believes her age may be wrong as Madeleine would be just 19 now. She also claims she has a freckle on her legs and a speck in her eye in the same places as Madeleine.
She also says she wants to get a DNA test to prove she is the missing girl. Her Instagram bio reads: “Help me, I need to talk with Kate and Gerry McCann I think I can be Madeleine. I need DNA test."
The unnamed woman's evidence is weak at best, but she has still attracted 25,000 followers on the social media site. And she is not the first woman to claim she is missing Maddie.
Back in 2021, a TikToker, who is also called Maddie by coincidence, hit the headlines when she shared footage of herself after being told by friends and family about her uncanny likeness to the missing UK girl. In the video the influencer posted, she showed a picture of the little Madeleine she found online before sharing her passport photo taken roughly around the same age as the missing girl.
