Young family terrified as armed thugs break into Clondalkin home and threaten parents of 12-day-old baby

The parents of a 12-day-old baby were left terrified last night as a group of thugs, one armed with a knife, broke into their Clondalkin home.

The horrific incident happened at around 10.30 last night when four men forced their way into the house just off the Old Nangor Road.

A handbag was stolen, and thankfully there were no injuries, but the family were left terrified as a result of the burglary.

The couple have said that the only thing stopping the burglars from taking more than a bag was that the woman shouted they had a newborn baby in the home.

They said: "Last night around 10.35 some robbers broke into the house at Millpark, Old Nangor Road.

"They wanted to rob everything they can but couldn't as my wife was screaming that we have [a] small baby.

"They took my wife's hand bag, her passport and some of our important cards including pps and driving licence.

"We were scared as my 12 day old baby was crying at that moment.

"Garda were here outside the door all night. We were terrified. It's really shocking that these type of incidents are common here now."

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardai are investigating an aggravated burglary that occurred at a house in the Old Nangor Road area of Clondalkin on 25/7/19 at approximately 10:30pm.

"Four males, one armed with a knife, forced their way into the house and threatened a man 30s and female 20s. No injuries were sustained. A handbag was stolen in this incident.

"Investigations are ongoing."
