The house where a children’s author was murdered by her fiance has been sold at a reduced price to a young family.
Ian Stewart, 56, killed Helen Bailey, 51 – who wrote the Electra Brown books for teens – in a bid to inherit her wealth and their house.
Stewart dumped Helen’s body in a cesspit under the garage of Hartwell Lodge after killing her in 2016.
The five-bed home, in Royston, Hertfordshire – which has an outdoor pool – went on the market last autumn.
It has now sold for £1.25millon. It was worth £1.5million at the time of Stewart’s trial in 2017.
When it went up for sale last year, it was valued at £1.4million, and the new owners secured a further £150,000 discount.
The family who moved in – who the Mirror is not naming – say it is their “dream home”.
Neighbours say the couple have a young child.
One said: “I have been told they knew about the history of the house when they came to look around and put in an offer.
"It’s been sitting empty for over three years now so it’s good to see someone living there.”
Stewart poisoned Helen with sleeping pills before suffocating her.
He was sentenced to life in prison in 2017 for her murder.
