Young Emirati Commits 1,200 Traffic Violations

Police in the United Arab Emirates arrested a citizen for committing 1,200 traffic violations.

Officials in Ras Al Khaimah Police said Sunday that an inspection campaign seized a car driven by a 23-year-old young Emirati, who has racked up Dh1.16 million in traffic fines, the German news agency reported.

According to Colonel Waleed Juma, chief of the Maamura police station, the young driver was caught in a vehicle with an expired license.

According to the data of the Federal Traffic System, the arrested man was involved in 1,251 traffic fines, including 1,200 violations for speeding and 51 "orders of seizure".

He pointed out that the radars detected the vehicle on different roads in Ras Al Khaimah, on which the driver exceeded the legal speed limit, resulting in fines of more than one million dirhams.
