Young EK indie band Spyres are celebrating their first single release in nine months.
The band released new song I’ Don’t Care’ last weekend and it is already gaining thousands of streams over the UK.
The young four piece, consisting of Keira McGuire, Emily Downie, Jude Curran and Alex White, have had a tough year with COVID restricting what they are able to do as a band.
Emily Downie, from East Kilbride, said that getting into the studio felt “like we were getting slowly back to normal”
“Once restrictions started to ease, we got together and started writing songs.
“We really wanted to write something different and something eye-catching that people would really enjoy.
“The song is about toxic relationships and sounds really different to our other songs.”
They recorded it with acclaimed producers Chris Marshall and Jonny Madden in 10/19 studio.
This was a new experience for them as their usual studio, lo-fi, closed due to coronavirus earlier in the year.
The band, like many others, haven’t been able to play live for some time but have tried their best through various livestreams.
Emily said: “We were invited to play a few live streams which was really fun.
“For a couple of them it was just me and Kiera playing acoustically but for a stream called Sam’s Night we managed to all get together at Berkeley Studio’s and record a full band set.
“It felt great to all be together again playing music for people. We hope that next year restrictions will start to ease again we can get out and play shows again.”
The new single I Don’t Care is available on all streaming platforms now.
