A young driver has been left fighting for his life after a serious two-car crash on the A85 in Perth and Kinross.
Emergency services were called to the scene near Methven Castle at around 9.30pm on Monday, December 6.
Police were forced to close the road for around 10 hours after a Vauxhall Astra collided with a Honda Jazz.
The 22-year-old driver of the Vauxhall was rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where staff described his condition as critical.
His 18-year-old male passenger was also badly hurt but remains in a ‘stable’ condition.
The 32-year-old female driver of the Honda and her seven-year-old girl passenger were also taken to hospital to be checked over.
A full accident investigation has been launched but officers were able to reopen the road at around 7.30am on Tuesday.
Sergeant John Learmonth from Perth Road Policing Department said: “Our investigation into this collision is continuing and I would appeal to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, or anyone with information, to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone driving on this road at the time of the crash or just before it took place who has dash-cam footage to speak to officers as this may assist our enquiry.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson addded: "We were alerted at 9.37pm on Monday, December 6 to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on the A85 near Methven Castle, Perthshire.
"Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene, where four casualties were handed into the care of paramedics.
"Firefighters left after making the area safe."
