Young Derry musician is "a name to watch" ahead of single release

A young Derry musician is causing a buzz on the music scene ahead of his new single release.

With influences from Bob Dylan, Laura Marling and Richard Ashcroft, Quentin Wylie offers a mesmerising blend of folk rock and indie.

And now Quentin's newest single Like Glue is to be released on November 30.

Ahead of its release, Quentin spoke to MyDerry and explained the meaning of this new track.

He said: "It is about the nostalgia of a break up, like those images that flash through your mind when you see them on social media or dating apps.

"Looking back through rose-tinted glasses and realising it still hurts."

The track has been described as painfully beautiful with relatable lyrics, with the power to lure you into the heart of the song.

As well as the new single, Quentin is releasing its B-side I'm Not The One For You.

It is a slice of 70s country meets folk, with a sense of familiarity of who it sounds similar to, but still with a power to make it stand alone.

Speaking of his musical influences, Quentin said: "I listen to any music that has a feel, has soul to it and that is why I love Acid House, Northern Soul and Brit Pop as much as Folk Rock.

"Music that makes you feel something is important; whether it be happiness, sadness, nostalgia, longing or euphoria."

With the release of his new single and B-side, Quentin is storming the music scene with his fresh, yet hauntingly familiar sound.

While many artists reflect this blend of folk and 70s nostalgia, few do it this well, in carving their own way.

Quentin Wylie is a name to watch.

His new single 'Like Glue' and B-side 'I'm Not The One For You' are set to be released on November 30.
