Young children arrested after allegedly vandalising Adelaide primary school

A seven-year-old boy has been cautioned and a 10 and 11-year-old arrested after the children allegedly broke into a school in Adelaide's south-west and vandalised it with paint.

Police responded to an alarm just after 6:00pm on Monday at Forbes Primary School in South Plympton.

They said they saw three children inside the building who attempted to run but were "quickly rounded up and retained".

Police said the school had been "significantly damaged" with paint splashed over its walls, floors and carpets, and electronic equipment damaged.

Two boys from nearby Ascot Park, aged 10 and 11, were charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and property damage.

They were bailed and will appear at a later date in the Adelaide Youth Court.

Police said a seven-year-old was returned home and cautioned.
