A young chef has revealed how he achieves the perfect roast potato without using an oven.
Morgan Hipworth, who posts on TikTok as @morganhipworth, said that the key to his crispy totties is sautéing the spuds in a saucepan, the Mirror reports.
The 20-year-old begins by peeling and dicing his potatoes, before adding them to a pot to boil to give them that soft texture.
He is then seen draining the potatoes before leaving them to dry out completely.
Morgan, who owns an artisan bakehouse in Melbourne, fries garlic in olive oil which will be used to cook his potatoes.
He says: “Peel the garlic cloves and then thinly slice. Add them to a pot with the olive oil and then allow to cook on a low heat for about 20 minutes. This is what I call liquid gold."
Morgan then sieves out the garlic and pours the oil into a frying pan along with the potatoes, which he sautés over a high heat with salt and rosemary until they're "super crispy".
He explained: "Add the oil to a pan over a high heat and then add the potatoes and sauté until super crispy. Add the sea salt, rosemary and garlic cloves from earlier, then toss to combine.
"Serve up these bad boys and boom, dig in and enjoy my garlic sautéed potatoes!"
He also said of his spuds: "These are some of the best potatoes I've ever made.”
And while Morgan's potatoes technically aren't roasties since they haven't been in the oven, the crunchy spuds would be a welcome addition to any classic Sunday roast dinner.
Commenters on the video - which has over 268,000 views - were amazed by Morgan's easy cooking hack, with many vowing to try the recipe out for themselves.
One person wrote: "I'm so making this tonight!”
While another said: "These look so good.”
And a third added: "Oh my god that looks amazing."
Others were quick to vouch for Morgan's trick, as they said they already cook their potatoes this way.
Someone said: "I make these once a week."
As someone else added: "I copied this recipe and put some honey on it and it was so good."
