Young Boys warm up for Rangers clash with win over lowly Luzern

Rangers Europa League rivals Young Boys warmed up for their do-or-die clash with a 1-0 win over lowly Luzern.

But the Swiss giants showed signs they struggled for a cutting edge after having more than 70 per cent possession during the game at the Wankdorf stadium.

And it took an own goal for Young Boys to get all three points and go four points clear at the top of the table.

They had a strong side out but couldn't find a way through during the first half.

But a minute into the second period, Pascal Schurpf directed into his own net.

The Luzern winger attempted to stop a cross from Young Boys left back Ulisses Garcia but only managed to put it beyond his own keeper.

Young Boys sit four points ahead of Basel at the top of the table.

Rangers need just a point to qualify for the last 32 when the two sides meet at Ibrox on Thursday night.

When they clashed in Switzerland, blunders from James Tavernier led to a 2-1 defeat for Steven Gerrard's men after Alfredo Morelos had opened the scoring.
