Young boy suffers serious head injuries after being hit by car in Ramsbottom

A young boy has suffered serious injuries after a crash in Ramsbottom.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Lumb Carr Road at 3.35pm on Sunday (December 6).

The pedestrian, a young boy, was taken to hospital with injuries to his head.

Lumb Carr Road was sealed off in both directions between the Shoulder of Mutton pub and Bolton Road West for several hours after the crash.

An air ambulance was spotted landing on a field in the area, which is close to Holcombe Hill and Peel Tower.

Pictures from the scene showed a large police presence in the area.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian shortly before 3.30pm on Sunday.

"We have treated a male patient for serious head injuries and taken him to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

"The patient is reportedly a child."
