Young boy 'struck in face' in assault outside Co-op in Totterdown

Police are hunting for a man after a young boy was struck in the face in front of a Co-op store in Bristol.

Detectives have issued two CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in relation to the assault, which happened in front of the supermarket in Wells Road, Totterdown.

The incident happened at around 11.45am on Tuesday, September 24.

The man in the images has short dark hair, and is wearing sunglasses and distinctive clothing - including a dark t-shirt with the words ‘The Doctor’ and the number ‘46’ in bridge fluorescent type on the front.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said they were releasing the images ‘of a man we’d like to speak to after a child was assaulted’.

“A man struck a young boy in the face causing him to fall back,” he said.

“Anyone who recognises the man is asked to call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5219221958.

“You can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their Anonymous Online Form,” he added.
