Young boy seriously injured after being hit by car in Falkirk

A young boy was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Falkirk.

The nine-year-old was struck on Drysdale Avenue at about 5.40pm last night.

Police and an ambulance were called to the the scene and the youngster was rushed to hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed he suffered serious but not life threatening injuries.

The road was closed until 10pm while specialist officers investigated the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 5.40pm on Monday officers were called to the Drysdale Avenue area of Falkirk following a report of a crash involving a car and a nine-year-old pedestrian.

"The boy was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

"The road was closed until around 10pm, as an investigation took place."
