Young boy rushed to hospital after being hit by car while riding his bike in Co Meath

A young boy has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car while riding his bike.

The incident happened this morning on the Clonmagadden Road in Navan, Co Meath.

A 10-year-old boy was struck by a car at around 8.50am.

He was treated at the scene before being rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth.

It is understood that his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Gardai confirmed investigations are ongoing into the incident.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí attended the scene of a road traffic collision at Clonmagadden Road, Navan on 6th October 2020 at 8.50am involving a cyclist and a car.

"The cyclist, a male child aged 10, was treated at the scene and was then taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

"Investigations are ongoing."
