Young boy driving lorry video leads to arrest

A man arrested on suspicion of child cruelty by police investigating a video apparently showing a little boy driving a lorry on the M1, has been released on bail.

The video which was shared on social media prompted officers to ask the public to help identify the child and the man talking to him in the cab of the lorry.

The incident is understood to have recently taken place on the M1 Eastbound near Dungannon, Co Tyrone.

A 37-year-old man was arrested in the Cookstown area on suspicion of a number of offences including cruelty to children.

A PSNI spokesman said: "Police, investigating an incident in which a video was shared online of a young boy driving a lorry, have arrested a 37-year-old man in the Cookstown area on suspicion of a number of offences including aiding and abetting driving whilst disqualified by reason of age and cruelty to children. The man is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries."

The man was released on police bail pending further enquiries.
