Young boy, 8, rushed to hospital after being hit by van in Co Down

An eight-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after being hit by a van in Co Down.

The terrifying incident happened at around 7pm on Wednesday in the Dundrum Road area of Newcastle.

Police from Downpatrick raced to the scene after receiving a report that the child had been injured in a collision, Belfast Live reports.

Officers are now appealing anyone with information to come forward as their investigation continues.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam footage that could help with enquiries, is asked to get in touch with police on 101, quoting reference number 1838 of 21/07/21.
