Boy, 4, rushed to hospital after being knocked down in Co Cork

A 4-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after being knocked down in Co Cork.

A road near Farranree has been closed off after the incident this afternoon.

Knockpogue Avenue is the road in question and has been closed until further notice, Cork Beo reports.

Anyone planning on heading that direction in the next couple of hours is advised to use an alternative route.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are at the scene of a road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 2.45pm on Knockpogue Avenue, Farranree, Cork City.

"Roads are closed and diversions are in place. No further information at this time."
