Young boy, 10, pushed and kicked in Washington park by gang of youths

A ten-year-old boy was left with minor injuries after he was attacked by a gang of youths who pushed and kicked him in a park in Sunderland.

Northumbria Police said they received a report that the boy had been assaulted in a park in Albany Way, Washington, in Sunderland shortly after 4.50pm on Sunday.

Officers were told that a group of children approached the young boy and pushed and kicked him before he was able to get away.

He was left with minor injuries following the incident.

Police are now investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 4.50pm yesterday (Sunday) we received a report a 10-year-old boy had been assaulted in a park in Albany Way, Washington.

"It was reported the boy had been approached by a group of other children, thought to be around the same age, who have pushed and kicked him, causing minor injuries, before he was able to get away and make his way home.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police by visiting the Tell Us Something page on our website quoting log 708 270920."
