Monoprint and woodcut printing are the techniques of two young artists from Poh-Chang Academy of Arts who are showcasing their works during "2EX Printmaking Exhibition" at Kalwit Studio & Gallery, until Oct 10.
Meaning "Double Ex", the title refers to experiment and experience which defines how Metasit Bunaikbuth, aka Ml3print, and Aphisit Sangthong, better known as As.billprint, produced their works for this show.
The abstract works of art by Ml3print are compared to "a song of a spherical body orbiting in a trajectory of possibility". They are the result of his unique experiment conducted within the scope of the printing technique where each work can only be printed once.
As.billprint, meanwhile, took inspiration from his direct observation of human behaviour and problems within society, especially their selfishness that is destroying our nature.
He has chosen to present his perspectives on the issues through woodcuts to remind viewers of the fact that the beauty of nature is being harmed more than it should be and this affects every life.
Depicting environmental issues caused by humans, his works comprise three pairs of woodcuts under three concepts -- children, survival instinct and domination.
The gallery is located on Ruamrudee 2, Witthayu Road (BTS Phloen Chit station, exit 4) and opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm. However, due to the Covid-19 situation, the gallery is open only by appointment and visitors are required to follow strict safety measures.
