Young Andrew McGill will represent Scotland under-17 at the Celtic XC event

Livingston Athletics club member Andrew McGill has been selected to represent Scotland under-17 at the Celtic XC event later this month.

The competition, which takes place in Stirling, will see Scotland take on teams from Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Four club athletes took part in last week’s Festive Handicap 2019. Stephen Marshall led the Livi runners home in 36th place with a run time of 39.13 and handicapped time of 1:24.08.

Andrew McGill (25.32; 1:26.27) was 61st with Steven Thomson (1:08.40; 1:26.35) three places further back.

Alistair Marshall completed the Livingston AC quartet with a run time of 27.05 and handicapped time of 1:27.00 which saw him come home in 69th place.

In parkrun events, there was a string of impressive performances.

Lucy Boules marked her first ever parkrun with an age category victory in Aviemore with a her time of 33.18.

Shannon Prevost also came first in her age category at Livingston with a time of 23.45 while Kerry Small set a new personal best with a time of 31.44.

At Polkemmet Country, Fraser Holman came first overall in the entire run at his first run tackling that course with a time of 18:30 with Alan Morris came first in his age category with a time of 23.22.

Kirsten Morris set a new personal best as well as coming second in her age group with a time of 32.13.
