You won’t be allowed into Elfingrove with light up toys and balloons, museum warns

Elfingrove kicks off at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum tonight, bringing to an end months of anticipation about what’s going on behind closed doors.

The itison event follows on from the hugely successful Glasglow at the Botanic Gardens, and promises a Night at the Museum-style Christmas wonderland inside the historic west end attraction.

From a snow globe silent disco to Santa’s “ancient secret”, we can’t wait to see what’s going on at Elfingrove - but there’s one big rule we all need to bear in mind when heading along (especially with little ones!)

The museum has issued a reminder that anyone visiting Elfingrove over the festive season will have to stay away from light up toys and balloons being sold by street vendors outside.

The reason for the rule is so that nothing from Kelvingrove’s collection is damaged.

A spokesperson said: “Elfingrove organisers advise anyone visiting to refrain from purchasing light up toys and balloons from street vendors en route to the venue.

“This is to comply with health and safety guidelines relating to the sale of such products and to ensure we protect the museum’s collection. Unfortunately, these items will not be permitted into the venue.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and hope patrons understand our reasons for issuing this advice.”
