'You've rocked my world' - Man City fans react to reports of new Pep Guardiola contract

Manchester City fans have reacted with delight to reports that Pep Guardiola has agreed to sign a new contract at the club.

For months there has been non-stop speculation surrounding the manager's future, with his current City contract set to expire at the end of the current season. However, according to The Athletic Guardiola has now agreed to extend his stay at the club until 2025, after meeting the club's hierarchy in Abu Dhabi.

The report claims that while the deal has not yet been signed, it is reported to be an initial one-year contract, with both the club and manager holding an option for a further year. That means either party could choose to end the contract early if they wanted, as was the case with the deal Guardiola signed in November 2020.

The club are not commenting on what it calls 'speculation'.

Since Guardiola took charge at City in 2016, he has guided the club to four Premier League titles, one FA Cup triumph, four League Cup wins and a first-ever Champions League final.

Given the success he has brought to the Etihad Stadium and the quality of football his side have played over his six-year reign, it's not surprising that City fans are delighted, and just a little excited, by the reports.

Here's what City fans on Twitter made of the news.
