Concord is by far the worst-performing Sony title of all time. It was super expensive, bombed completely, and died before it could truly live. And some have recently tried to revive it via a fan project, but it appears Sony wasn't playing when it wanted it killed off—for good.
As per an Insider Gaming report, Concord's fan revival project has been indefinitely put on hold, following a Discord announcement by project developers that said they would "halt" further invitations to play the revamped title. The reasons for this decision don't appear to have been clearly stated, but as Insider Gaming reports, DMCA claims were filed against those who posted videos of the revival project on YouTube, strongly indicating Sony has pulled the trigger on the project before it even got off the ground.
Whereas nothing about the project seems to have been monetized, it seems Sony does not want anyone to touch Concord ever again. It was a major flop for the company, one that cost it hundreds of millions by some accounts. It more or less told Sony to steer clear of live-service shooters, especially ones that bring absolutely nothing new to the table and are carbon copies of existing games, only worse.
We'll have to wait and see if the revival project bounces back, though. After all, Sony could very well give them the green light to continue. But after what we've seen thus far, it appears that, much like the game itself, the project is going down before it ever reached anything at all.
And maybe that's better.
