'You simply can't say that' - Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino makes Philippe Coutinho admission

Roberto Firmino is still a huge fan of Philippe Coutinho despite his Brazilian teammate's rather acrimonious departure from Liverpool.

Both players were in fine form for Brazil during their 5-0 victory over Bolivia in Saturday's World Cup qualifying game.

Firmino netted twice, with Coutinho adding Brazil's fifth in the big victory.

Coutinho has started this season brightly for Barcelona after being given a new lease of life under manager Ronald Koeman.

The former Reds attacker had been deemed surplus to requirements last season, being sent out on loan to Bayern Munich, who he helped win the Champions League.

Yet Koeman has brought him in from the cold at the Nou Camp and Coutinho is repaying the Dutchman with the sort of form that saw him move from Liverpool to Barca for £142m in 2018.

Firmino clearly still enjoys playing with his former Reds teammate, too.

The duo played alongside each other at Anfield for three years and have a close relationship as they continue to be national teammates - something Firmino values highly.

Firmino told FIFA.com: "He's phenomenal.

"You simply can't say that he's not a magician. He has magical powers. He produces plays that don't exist, that you couldn't make up.

"You always have to watch replays of his plays to understand what he's done. He's an unbelievable player.

"It was a pleasure to play with him at Liverpool, and it's a pleasure to play with him for the Selecao.

"I'm a huge fan of his. He's one of the very best players in the world."
