‘You shouldn’t be in here’: Woman makes Antipasto for neighborhood party. Then she leaves in tears

A woman shares the heartbreaking moment she was booted from a neighborhood 4th of July party by its host, sparking outrage on social media as attendees weigh in on what really happened.

In a TikTok with over 37.3 million views, Nicole (@folkmedicineremedies) breaks down in tears in her car after she was “humiliated.”

She explains that the mother of her son’s best friend and the host of the 4th of July party invited her to join.

“I don’t know anybody. I’m new to this area,” she says.

Excited to meet her new neighbors, she makes an antipasto salad with vegetables from her garden. She also shows texts between her and her mother in which she asks if she can bring anything else.

However, her excitement quickly dissipates when she arrives at the party and presents the antipasto to the host.

What happened at the 4th of July party?

Nicole walks into the host’s house to set down the antipasto with her friend.

“I just wanted to chat and introduce myself to everybody,” she says. However, she says she noticed that the hosts of the party walked by her angrily when she entered the room.

As she chats with other guests, one of the homeowners walks in and begins chastising her for “not introducing” herself.

“Not even five minutes in the door and somebody’s like, ‘Are you going to introduce yourself? It’s really rude to walk into somebody’s house and not introduce yourself,’” she recounts. “I looked like a deer caught in the headlights because I thought I was invited.”

Nicole leaves the house and the other guests on the porch shoot her angry stares.

“One guy was like, ‘Welcome to the neighborhood. See ya later,’” she says. “I was totally distraught. I’ve never been treated like that.”

She notes that she left the antipasto salad for the host and other guests to enjoy, even though they kicked her out.

“It was probably a $40 salad. I used all the really nice Italian cut meats and all the vegetables from my yard,” she says. “I just wanted to make a good impression. This is why you don’t make friends in your thirties.”

Did the hosts of the 4th of July party respond?

Viewers express their outrage in the comments of Nicole’s TikTok.

“Bullies don’t stop in high school. I’m sorry,” one writes.

“They did not deserve you or your antipasto! Their behavior was bizarre. I guarantee there was something else going on,” another says.

“You feel horrible?! NO! THEY should all feel bad. Find your own new group of friends! You don’t need them,” a third adds.

The story even gained momentum on Reddit, with commenters criticizing the hosts for their behavior.

“This family was just not raised right. That sweet woman made her own cheese and went all out. She’d be welcomed no matter what in my home, as a guest,” a commenter says.

“As a fellow southerner who saw both videos, the family seemed like the cliques you find in the dumbass HOA neighborhoods who think their [expletive] don’t stink because their pawpaw was in cahoots with so-and-so,” another writes.

TikTokers quickly identified the profile of the host of the party, Stasia Hicks, who posted a response to Nicole’s video on her now-deleted profile.

The host responds

In a screen recording of the video reposted on Nicole’s page, Hicks claims that they were caught off guard because they “simply did not know who this person was that came into our house unannounced.”

Hicks claims that the event was “not a party” but a “get-together of people who knew each other.”

Nicole stitches the video with a recording of a call between her and their mutual friend. The friend claims that she sent a picture of the antipasto Nicole was bringing to Hicks and told them she invited her.

The next day, Nicole shares a clip of Hicks’ husband, Jake, calling to apologize. He claims that he received “death threats” from Nicole’s followers.

Nicole has continued to share minor updates on the back and forth, and her gratitude for the support from her TikTok following. She even posts a recipe for the antipasto salad that started it all.
