YOU season 2 ending explained: What happens to Joe & Love? Is there a season 3?

What sort of mess has Joe gotten himself into now?

With a new identity and life in LA, it seemed that Joe Goldberg ( Penn Badgley ) had finally escaped his ex Candance ( Ambyr Childers ) and found potential happiness in YOU season 2 on Netflix.

However, with Candace not giving up and Joe getting involved in the dark side of Hollywood it was only a matter of time before the secrets caught up with Joe and his new romance with secretive Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti).

But how did the gripping second run of YOU end and will there be a second season?

*Spoiler warning for YOU season 2*

YOU season 2 ending explained

Who killed Delilah?

Carmela Zumbado in YOU (Beth Dubber/Netflix)

Following her discovery of his lies and crimes, Joe imprisoned neighbour, lover, and reporter Delilah in the glass cage but with the plan to release her once he had got his affairs in order and fled Los Angeles.

However, after being spiked by Forty, Joe lost a whole evening's worth of events and return to the cage to find that Delilah had been murdered.

Then in a shocking twist, Joe learned that his beloved Love had actually murdered Delilah to stop her exposing Joe.

Delilah wasn't her first kill either - she had murdered her and Forty's nanny that had molested him to ensure he escaped her grasp.

What happens with Candace?

Ambyr Childers in YOU (Beth Dubber/Netflix)

Candace may have had her own ruse as Forty's girlfriend "Amy Adam" exposed, but she was still intent on exposing Joe and ensuring that Love was saved from him.

Having found Joe's prison and realised that Delilah had been murdered, Candace was planning to expose Joe and asked Love for help before then being brutally murdered by Love herself.

What happens to Forty?

James Scully in YOU (Beth Dubber/Netflix)

Having had his suspicions roused by former lover Candace, Forty went to visit Dr. Nicky (John Stamos) and became convinced of Joe's involvement in the murder of Guinevere Beck and also his other crimes and manipulations.

On Love's friends Lucy and Sunrise's wedding day, Forty held Joe and Love at gunpoint and wanted the truth but was ultimately shot dead by Officer Fincher before he could do anything else.

Love mourned her brother.

Do Joe and Love get a happy ending?

Love and Joe face new challenges (Netflix)

With Delilah, Candace, and Forty all dead and Ellie moving out of town to go travel, Joe and Love are free to have a happy ending - both embracing the deadly truth about each other.

On top of that, the killer pair are also expecting a baby.

Moving into a new suburban neighbourhood, everything seems sweet for them, until the next-door neighbour catches Joe's eye.

From her legs and arms, she appears to be an older and likely married woman and he sees her reading classic literature from the likes of Franz Kafka, Jane Austen, and Aldous Huxley.

It seems Joe will have a new obsession - but how will Love react?

Will there be a YOU season 3?

Penn Badgley in YOU (Beth Dubber/Netflix)

A third season has yet to be confirmed by Netflix , however, if the second run is anywhere near as big as the first then we can definitely expect more episodes.

The conflict for a third run has already been teased with Joe apparently falling for his next-door neighbour.

YOU season 2 is available now on Netflix.
