"You Scouse b******!" Jamie Carragher heckled by Manchester crowd after t-shirt taunt

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was heckled with chants of "you Scouse b*****d" after wearing a t-shirt commemorating his former club's 7-0 thrashing of rivals Manchester United last season while on stage in Manchester.

Carragher has been touring the country alongside fellow ex-footballers turned pundits Gary Neville and Roy Keane as part of 'The Overlap on Tour' and when the stage show visited Manchester he could not resist taking a dig.

After being given a "proper welcome", Carragher stood up and revealed he was wearing a t-shirt with a selfie he took of him and Neville at Anfield when Liverpool beat United 7-0. The shirt also had the score written on it.

Carragher's reveal was immediately met with vociferous boos from the crowd, who then proceeded to chant: "You Scouse b*****d!" Carragher revelled in the reception, before presenter and former Love Island star Josh Denzel joked: "I'm a bit worried. Is Jamie going to be alright leaving this place?"

"I hope not," quipped Neville in response as the crowd roared with laughter. The now infamous selfie was taken after Darwin Nunez scored Liverpool's fifth goal and Carragher rubbed salt in Neville's wounds after the match by making it his profile picture on Twitter.

Later on in the show, Carragher was asked to name one thing about Manchester that he liked and replied: "The show, Shameless. You were all proper rough in that, weren't you?"

And fans found Carragher's antics hilarious, with one writing on social media: "To be fair, I'm a United fan but that is quality. Fair play to him it's just banter". Another wrote: "These two make the rivalry between us & the scousers as feisty as ever but with a level of mutual respect and humour".

"Haha it's all fun banter nice when we can have laugh together without being nasty," added a third. While a fourth wrote: "The banter between Carra an Neville is boss".

Carragher is one of the faces of Sky Sports' football coverage and the broadcaster is in the midst of a major revamp, with a host of big names leaving their roles ahead of next season. Legendary commentator Martin Tyler has been replaced by Peter Drury, while pundit Graeme Souness and Soccer Saturday presenter Jeff Stelling have also departed. Tunnel reporter Geoff Shreeves also quit after reportedly rejecting a pay cut.
