'You're where?' GMB presenter ripped to shreds live on air for failing to pronounce name of famous Glasgow district

Ecclefechan, Finzean and Milngavie have one thing in common - they are pronounced incorrectly time and time again.

One place in Scotland that doesn't have this problem is Govan in Glasgow.

However, pronouncing the district was a problem for one Good Morning Britain presenter as he visited the area earlier today.

Former Live and Kicking presenter Andi Peters was left red faced after he referred to the area as ' Gove-an'.

His comical gaffe led to a ribbing from hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan who then went onto call Govan'one of the most famous places in the world'.

On the programme, Morgan said: "If you're going to go to Scotland, at least know how to pronounce some of their most famous places. Where are you?

Peters said: "I'm in Govan docks here in Glasgow."

Morgan replied: "What did you call it earlier?"

"I called it Gove-an," Peters said.

Morgan added: "It's not just any old part of Scotland, this is the place where Sir Alex Ferguson comes from. He's from Govan. It's one of the most famous places in the world, and you got it wrong."

Peters then hit back by saying: "I had never been here. It's famous after today because the Peters has been here.

"So now I've been here everyone will want to come to Govan, nothing to do with the film 1917 was shot locally."

The slip up by the former kids presenter led to people having their own say.

Robert Sterling wrote: "Hahahaha GOVIN. Hahahaha what a plonker what a plonka."

Twitter user @DarrenSeatory said: "Only you Andy."
