'You're welcome bro'- Irvine Welsh's response to racism tweet about 'cocktail-sipping middle class'

Since the Black Lives Matter movement began, many people have been expressing their opinions on the multi-faceted racism issues that modern society faces.

A sweary Edinburgh tweet has gone viral after accusing Edinburgh's 'cocktail-sipping middle class' of getting too involved in 'lecturing people on racism and poverty.'

And the tweet clearly struck a chord with Trainspotting playwright Irvine Welsh who couldn't help but respond when he saw it.

The tweet which has over 500 likes said: "Thanks to Edinburgh’s middle class for giving up lecturing us on social distancing and clapping for a day to educate us on poverty and racism.

"To be fair you can see both Northview Court & Dundas pillar while sipping £12 cocktails on the fourth floor of Harvey Nicks. Fu***** bams"

Irvine Welsh decided to respond to the tweet commenting: "You’re welcome bro."

The playwright from Leith has been using his platform to get vocal around issues surrounding the black community.

Recently he spoke out in support for the younger generation saying: "Great to be a late middle-aged c*** and actually envy youth, after 20 years of feeling sorry for the poor b******

"The times they are a changing and they are making it happen. All power to them."
