‘You’re not saving a dime by shopping at Dollar General’: Shopper compares Tide Pods from Target, Dollar General. Then they notice something shocking

One frugal customer noticed that Target’s Tide Pods are slightly larger than at Dollar General. Is he onto something?

In a video with over 126,000 views, TikTok user @bigshane76 pointed out that you may not be saving an extra dime by shopping at Dollar General. That’s because, according to the video, Target-brand Tide Pods come much larger compared to Dollar General.

Trying to compare pricing

Many people disagreed as to whether Target really had bigger Tide Pods for the same price as those at Dollar General.

@Joseph wrote, “everything at (Dollar General) is smaller y’all ain’t getting a deal.”

@Spiritulistic commented, “Dollar General is for those weeks you just need to get by.”

The real answer to the story, however, is that it’s almost impossible to confirm that Target could have bigger Tide Pods. There are multiple varieties at various different price points for Target’s Tide Pods. The prices also range depending on location. Dollar General doesn’t have Tide Pods listed as a product on its laundry cleaning tab, but the company does clarify that they have them available.

Are they really the same type of Tide Pod?

TikTok user @Lindsay had one explanation, saying, “the larger one is meant for higher soil levels. If your laundry isn’t that soiled and you only do one rinse cycle, that much detergent will be stuck on your clothes.”

User @Claude agreed, writing, “The larger one is a double load; they sell both sizes at Walmart.”

Tide does sell XL oxi-power boosted pods at a variety of stores across the country.

It’s also difficult to tell whether or not the pods shown in the video are like every pod in their respective bag. Considering users only see one Tide Pod that are supposedly from different bags in the viral clip, it’s not something that can be confirmed or set in stone.

The Mary Sue has reached out to @bigshane76 and Tide for comment.
