'You're a machine': Gemma Atkinson carries on training after suffering painful gym injury

Fitness fanatic Gemma Atkinson has been hailed as 'inspirational' after sharing the moment she fell down during training but carried on with her workout.

Gemma set the camera rolling as she performed box jumps in her home gym.

In a video shared on her Instagram, the workout was going well until she fell while taking a leap onto the 20 inch box and hurts her shin.

As she fell, the actress and radio presenter lost her headphones but she picked them, and herself, back up and soldiered on.

Gemma later unveiled a large bump on her leg.

"That hurt I'm not going to lie," she said, explaining however that she wasn't going to be put off by the fall.

"Instant bump but I got three more to do before I'm finished," she said determinedly.

"So pick yourself up and do your three."

The former Emmerdale star from Bury said alongside the video of her fall: "Sometimes in life things knock you down, get in your way and try to stop you moving forward.

"Especially when you’re trying something new.

"That’s why a lot of people give up.

"The fear of trying something new, feeling like a beginner again or looking silly in the process.

"Today I tried something new! My horrendous leg session ended with conditioning. 15, 12, 9 cals on the assault bike, box jumps and DB cleans.

I decided to do all my box jumps (36 in total) with the box at 24 inches instead of 20 inches.

"On my last round, the above happened! with just three more jumps left!!!"

Referencing movie boxing legend Rocky she said: "As Rocky Balboa says though, it ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. "That’s how winning is done!"

One impressed follower commented: "You're a machine Gemma."

"You're made of steel," said another.

"Your an inspiration girl!" exclaimed another.

"Faced the box fear after falling is nails!" another follower told her.

Sitting outside the Hits Radio drivetime presenter, 35, later laughed off the moment in a follow-up video alongside her dog Norman, who she recalled looked in amazement at her after she fell.
