You now have to tell your boss if you're not vaccinated under new rules

A change in the rules on vaccination in England will mean you have to tell your boss if you're not vaccinated, according to an MP.

The rules for England change on Tuesday, meaning that if you come into contact with someone who tests positive you no longer need to isolate for 10 days - but can instead take lateral flow tests to make sure you are negative for seven days.

But that rule, which covers all variants of the illness, only applies if you are fully vaccinated.

If you have not had all your jabs - you still need to stay off work for 10 days - meaning you will have to tell your employers you have not had the jab.

One MP told the Telegraph : “The measure means only if you are vaccinated can you take a test. If you are not vaccinated, you have to be isolated for 10 days. It is a way of telling your boss.”

Dr Jenny Harries, the chief executive of the UK Health Security Agency, said: “If you are identified as a contact of someone with Covid-19, taking a rapid daily test – and only needing to isolate if it is positive – will help reduce the spread of the virus and minimise its impact on our everyday lives over the coming weeks and months.

So if you are in England and you have not had both doses of the vaccine, and you come into close contact with someone who has Covid, you will have to explain to your boss why you cannot go into work for the next 10 days.
